Character’s Name: Andrew Wells
Character’s Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Character’s Personality: If there is one word that can describe Andrew, then that work is “nerd.” Andrew is, for all intents and purposes, the nerd of the group. He constantly relates real life to situations found in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, as well as other ‘nerdy’ pastimes like that. What’s more, despite all of the bad stuff he’s experienced in his life, Andrew somehow manages to be relatively normal. Well, in comparison to some of the other crazies around him, at least. He’s also fond of making things sound much bigger and more amazing than they actually are, like life is a giant movie or something. Beneath all of this, though, there is a lot of guilt. Andrew feels horrible for killing his best friend, and he’s trying to become a better person and redeem himself.

Character’s Background: Like many of the good guys in BtVS, Andrew started out as a villain. He was part of the “Trio”, which consisted of himself, Warren, and Jonathan. Originally Andrew and Jonathan joined up with Warren, who is the group’s leader of sorts, to have fun and cause mayhem, but as things progressed it became clear that Warren wanted only power. Andrew gradually changes to become evil and wrathful like Warren, even goading him on at some points.

This all changes when Warren accidentally kills Tara while trying to strike down Buffy. When that happens Willow, Tara’s girlfriend, goes after the Trio. She skins Warren alive, and then she goes after Jonathan and Andrew. The two boys have to flee for their lives, heading to Mexico to avoid Willow’s vengeance.

Of course, they don’t stay there too long. Eventually Andrew is contacted by the First Evil, who is disguised as Warren. The First Evil tells him to return to Sunnydale and open a seal for him, and since Andrew thinks it’s Warren he happily agrees. As soon as Andrew and Jonathan get to the seal, though, the First Evil gets Andrew to murder Jonathan. Soon afterwards he is captured by Buffy & co. and he is held hostage for a while.

In the end Andrew becomes both an ally and the comical relief, though many of the others are just annoyed by him. This is especially true for Buffy, and she goes to great lengths to make him realize the severity of what he’s done. This all comes to a head when Andrew thinks that Buffy is going to kill him to close the seal he had opened by killing Jonathan. That’s a big turning point for Andrew, and eventually he decides to take the path to redemption. He helps out in the final battle against the First Evil, going and fighting alongside Anya. Also, when Anya dies, he’s the one who consoles Xander.

Andrew is the younger brother of Tucker Wells, a demon summoner who has crossed paths with Buffy in the past. While Tucker is relatively infamous, Andrew is not well known. He often identifies himself as “Tucker’s brother” when someone doesn’t know who he is right away. Also, like his brother, he can summon demons and control them, and he uses flutes and other wind instruments to do this.
